Outstanding features

The Muscat Maritime Museum objective is to mainly revitalize and renovate a part of the port as well as stimulate the development of a dynamic cultural environment. Closely related to the traditional activities on the Muscat boardwalk (fish market, shopping, etc) the new attractions will be build to communicate the past, present and future of the Oman’s civilization patrimony. The new infrastructures include:

  • Geology museum
  • Museum of the maritime history of the country
  • Aquarium showing the aquatic diversity of the Oman sea
  • Green energy information centre

To provide a unique multimedia experience, an Imax theatre with a giant screen would present movies related to Oman treasures, legends, past civilizations and wildlife diversity.   In addition to these different infrastructures, the complex proposes a 4,700 sq.ft. multifunctional showroom that would accommodate several activities such as meetings, conferences and banquets. Additionally, several boutiques, restaurants and offices will be integrated in the Muscat Maritime promenade project.

Facing the seaside walk of Muscat, the new project would present a live water show using modern fountains and projection effects on water. As a city landmark, the water show would be offered each night to the visitors and residents of Muscat.
